Chair Repairs

Sam Flax is a Herman Miller Authorized Repair Center.

This includes the popular Aeron chair, by Herman Miller.

Repairs are done by our Herman Miller factory-trained technicians using authentic factory parts. Even if you didn’t purchase your chair from Sam Flax, or you don’t own a chair from one of these manufacturers, we can probably handle the repair.

Repairs are often covered under the manufacturer’s warranty and may result in little or no cost to you—if you’re the original purchaser of the product. Almost all manufacturers’ warranties only honor their warranties for the original purchaser. But even if it is not under warranty, many ergonomic chairs from good manufacturers are worth an investment to lengthen the life of the chair.

Get more life out of your favorite chair—in 4 easy steps.

Step 1: Look under your seat for the model tag

Most manufacturers put a tag on the underside of the seat that identifies the model, date of manufacture, and other pertinent information. You’ll need to jot down the following info:

  • Model number (for example, Aeron chairs have a model number like this:AE113 AWC AJ G1 BB BK 3D01
  • Date of manufacture
  • Factory or FO number—6 digits

With this information, we can determine if the chair is under warranty, though we are also happy to do non-warranty work. If the chair’s not under warranty, we can determine repair cost after an inspection of the chair.

Step 2: Call or email the model and warranty info to us

You can also e-mail photos of the chair—which may speed up our ability to diagnose the problem and order parts. But please remember! Photos do not always show the extent of work that must be done; only a physical inspection can do that.

After we’ve verified model and warranty status, we’ll determine the parts and labor required and get back to you.

Step 3: Send the chair to Sam Flax

There are three ways to do this:
1) You can bring the chair to our repair centers in Atlanta or Orlando.

2) We can arrange to pick up the chair if you are located within our normal delivery/pickup areas in Atlanta or Orlando for a reasonable charge. If you are outside our area, please call the nearest service center (Atlanta or Orlando).

3) Use UPS or FedEx to ship the chair to us. You are responsible for all shipping charges to us, as well as the shipping charges from us back to you, even if the chair is under warranty, so please call us to receive a repair order number. Be sure to include name, phone number, e-mail address, and your home or business address and what is wrong with the chair.

Step 4: We will be in touch!

After we receive the chair, our technician will contact you within 3 business days to discuss repair charges (if any) and the approximate time needed for repair. Parts commonly take about two weeks to arrive from the manufacturer.
